Jul i Folkton

It started with a CD…
A timeless Swedish Christmas Album with a wide range of musicians gathered around classical songs, psalms, and corals of folk music.
We have for long considered how a timeless Christmas album could sound and in 2005 we decided to make “Jul i Folkton” a serious effort to make such an album. Not pretentious but serious in the meaning of respectful to the mission.
For this we have handpicked the most recognized Swedish voices of today.
The expression “folkton” was mostly meant to be as a starting point, a direction for every Christmas lovers and skeptics in the Swedish music industry that contributed to this project.
Among them are Sara Isaksson, Lena Willemark, Sofia Karlsson, Louise Hoffsten, Ale Möller, Esbjörn Hazelius, Lisa Rydberg, Rebecka Törnqvist and Roger Tallroth, of whom everyone knows to never expect only an expression, but so much more, a Christmas Eve that shines over the music that never completely reaches critics or the audience.

Göran, A&R at Bonnieramigo, as the producer of the album had a vision from a very beginning that “Jul i Folkton” will be just as excellent live as recorded. And he was right. After two successful years we decided to do a remake for 2008. It all builds on the encounter between these fantastic musicians and the audience and the timeless Christmas music that we have known for so long.
Our goal is to give the audience a concert with a real Christmas feeling.
