Sofia Karlsson
Sofia Karlsson released her fourth studio album Söder om kärleken in 2009 at her own label Sally Wiola Music, in co-operation with Playground Scandinavia. The fact that it’s Sofia’s fourth album is undebatable, though some people might consider it her first album since Söder om kärleken for the first time fully introduced the songwriter and lyricist Sofia Karlsson.
Her selftitled debut released 2002 met critical acclaim, and by spring 2005 things changed radically when her second album (the Dan Andersson-CD Svarta Ballader) became a huge success, acclaimed by both critics and audience. Svarta Ballader spent 54 weeks on the Swedish charts (and is still on the Top 100 of all albums since 1975!) and achieved a Swedish Grammy as well as a Danish Music Award Folk.
The success of Svarta Ballader was followed by a period of intense touring, and it wasn’t until spring 2007 that her second solo album Visor från vinden saw the light of day. Visor från vinden was recorded in both Sweden and Denmark during and between tours. It became a commercial success that peaked the charts at 2nd place. Just like her previous album it was awarded with both a Grammy and a DMA Folk. Over the years , Sofia has also achieved awards such as Best Folklore Album 2006, The Dan Andersson Prize 2008 and The Manifest Prize 2008.
During 2009 and 2010, Sofia was touring intensely though Scandinavia, playing for sold out venues. Six months after the album Söder om Kärleken was released, it reached gold in Sweden and the album also won A Swedish Grammy! In the end of 2009 a compilation album with a bonuscd containing bonus tracks, rarities and previously unreleased tracks.
