Emilia Amper

Emilia Amper - world champion of nyckelharpa in 2010, multiple award winning composer and singer, whose success knows no boundaries.

Emilia Amper is one of Sweden's most successful folk musicians ever. She can look back on both a Swedish and an American Grammy nomination, Norwegian Grammy equivalent Spellemansprisen, a NPU award from SKAP (Swedish Composers of Popular Music), and Artist of the Year at the Swedish Folk & World Music Awards. With her charisma, virtuosity and energy, she moves with ease across stylistic boundaries, and touches people in both small and big venues across the world.

During 2015, she has collaborated with, among others, The Trondheim Soloists and Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (Norway), Swiss ensemble Flamencos en route, German Ballett am Rhein, and Swedish chamber orchestra Camerata Nordica. In addition to this, she has been performing with her own outfit, Emilia Amper Band, and star trio ODE featuring Olle Linder and Dan Svensson (who toured Canada and the US in February 2016), as well as various other folk music projects.

Emilia took TV viewers by storm during Sweden’s official National Day celebrations in 2015, and the traditional Christmas concert "Luciamorgon" on Swedish National Television, watched by millions of viewers, and met with overwhelming reviews.

The fall of 2016 will see the release of the follow-up to Emilia's critically acclaimed and Swedish Grammy nominated debut album "Trollfågeln" (BIS 2012) - the new album ”Lux” (BIS 2016). Here, Emilia will flower as a composer, ensemble leader, instrumentalist, and vocalist. She explores the possibilities of the nyckelharpa, and we will get to meet influences from all over the world; from folk music, rock, pop, and chamber music, in music for nyckelharpa, vocals, string ensemble and percussion.
